Chen Chefetz is an artist, actor & performer. He was born in 1989 and grew up in Zoran, a small village in central Israel. Since 2010 he has been living and creating in Tel Aviv. In the field of visual arts Chefetz is self-taught. Borrowing conceptions and methodologies from the spheres of theater, cinema, architecture, and fashion, Chefetz creates using mediums ranging from painting, installation, video and performance art.

 

Chen Chefetz delves into a conceptual and material examination of the sense of home and belonging. He employs the classic conventions of landscape painting not to loyally represent the landscape in its geopolitical or national context, but to express a personal experience of oscillating between polar opposites. The emotional content dictates the color palette, compositions, materials, mediums, and installation. Thus Chefetz examines and locates the elements of place and time as components of identity, just as he explores the possibilities inherent in the variety of mediums–which allow the perceived dichotomies to be experienced, rather, as complementary.
