Couple
(triptych)
In the photographic triptych, an image of a pair of cranes is presented, which similarly to the painted sky fragments, was photographed at different times and seasons over time. Chefetz photographed them from the roof of his previous house, tracking their development as if he were tracking a romantic relationship: in one photograph, against a pink sunset, each crane faces a different direction. In another photograph, amidst white clouds and spring skies, one crane faces the other, who appears to turn its gaze away. In a third photograph, the cranes appear shrouded in fog on what seems to be a particularly wintery day, with one directed upward while the other fades into the background. Human relationships, Chefetz suggests, are also a kind of home: not of four walls and a window, but of belonging, closeness, and sharing.
